Taco ‘Bout a Party

Taco ‘Bout a Party

T&A hosted this event at the shrine last year for Cinco de Mayo.  Todd was Potentate of Crescent Shrine in NJ in 2023 and Amy was the First Lady.  For those of you not familiar with Shriners, it is an “international fraternity dedicated to fun, fellowship, and philanthropy” raising money for Shriners Hospitals for children.  Crescent Shrine has Friday night dinners every 3rd Friday of the month.  It is a fun way to get together with friends and family of the shrine.  Todd and Amy increased attendance with their fun themes and great food.  For more information on becoming a shriner: www.shrinersinternational.org

We had a nacho bar and a taco bar which were big hits!

We made taco meat, pork carnitas, and chicken fajitas for the taco bar.  I make a very easy, yet delicious rice and beans with Goya Spanish rice, black beans, and Rotel topped with fresh Cilantro.  Mexican street corn, elote, is a new found favorite of ours.  I made a Mexican street corn dip and casserole.

I made churro cupcakes for dessert which are delicious!  I tried to make maracas, but they were a Pinterest fail, but still kind of cute.  “A” for effort 🤣 Decorations were Corona bottles painted on the inside with flowers, sombreros, and colorful runners.

This was such a fun party to plan that everyone enjoyed.  We even made a Playlist on Spotify “Taco ‘Bout a Party” https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2WViAytgv2AvTotfESLivZ?si=Cpe4OaFAQuKygKeOuu_4LA
